Look at your calendar first

A late meeting, a long commute or a busy afternoon can tell you more than an empty meal planner. Pick two or three moments when deciding what to eat feels like another task. Start there.

Choose a few different formats

A bowl, a salad and a wrap give the week a little variety. Use the menu categories as a starting point, then choose dishes you actually want to eat. Repeating a favorite is fine, too.

Leave some meals open

Plans change. Keep room for cooking, leftovers or meeting someone for dinner. A useful plan fits your week instead of filling every space in it.

Keep a short favorites list

Write down the meals you would happily choose again. Next time, start with that list and add one new option. You will spend less time choosing without making every week identical.
